Economy (Eco) Conversion Kits
The Economy(Eco) Conversion Kit uses an adapter that makes it possible to operate low pressure propane, natural gas and gasoline. Most homes provide low pressure natural gas or low pressure propane. This kit does not support high pressure propane that comes from a tank, but you can purchase one of our propane hose assemblies and then you will be able to run on a tank.

This kit can also run on low pressure propane that comes from a presure reducing regulator that comes from the home or a large tank. The fuel adapter will mix the Propane or Natural Gas into the air stream above the gasoline carburetor. The gasoline carburetor remains basically untouched. So basically, fuel adapter kits are not a conversion, they are an adaptation. This is the most common method of conversion and it is the least expensive and least labor intensive.
This is the least expensive!
For the Economy Conversion Kit (?) we used our own version of the Impco Garretson KN, the C-039-122 fuel regulator with manual primer for ease of starting. The KN fuel controller works great with 11 inches of water column or 6 to 8 ounces per square inch of pressure. A typical natural gas line pressure is in the range of 10 to 12 inches of water column. The manual primer located on the back cover of our version of theImpco Garretson KN C-039-122 makes it much easier to start the engine as it primes the carburetor with gaseous fuel. The SD 073-321(obsolete) with manual primer can also be used for the generator dual fuel conversion.
Basic Installation
NOTE:There are more steps to the conversion process but the following steps describe the basic process.
Step 1 - Remove the air cleaner assembly
Step 2 - Install the fuel adapter
Step 3 - Assemble fuel regulator and mount on the frame
